1.1 Information You Provide

  • β€’Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials via our authentication provider (Clerk).
  • β€’Profile Data: Your profile picture, display name, and language preferences.
  • β€’Document Content: The content you create, edit, and store in SparkWriter, including text, images, and metadata such as titles and labels.
  • β€’Communications: Any messages or feedback you send to our support team.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • β€’Usage Data: How you interact with SparkWriter, including features used, documents created, and session duration.
  • β€’Device Information: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and device identifiers.
  • β€’Log Data: IP address, access times, pages viewed, and referring URLs.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • β€’Process and securely store your documents in the cloud
  • β€’Power AI features including auto-completion, suggestions, and the AI chat assistant
  • β€’Personalize your experience based on your preferences and usage patterns

  • β€’Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats

3. AI & Document Processing

SparkWriter uses AI to provide writing assistance. When you use AI features, portions of your document content may be sent to our AI processing partners to generate suggestions, completions, and improvements. We do not use your document content to train AI models. Your content is processed in real-time and is not retained by our AI partners beyond the duration of the request.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard security practices:

  • β€’Document content is stored in TipTap Cloud using encrypted Yjs binary format with real-time synchronization.
  • β€’Metadata (titles, labels, preferences) is stored in a PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest.
  • β€’Authentication is handled by Clerk with enterprise-grade security, including MFA support.
  • β€’All data transmission uses TLS/HTTPS encryption.
  • β€’We implement Content Security Policy (CSP), rate limiting, and audit logging.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate SparkWriter:

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • β€’Export: Download your data in CSV format from Settings > Account.
  • β€’Rectification: Update or correct inaccurate personal information.
  • β€’Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data from Settings > Account.
  • β€’Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • β€’Restriction: Request that we limit the processing of your data.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data and documents are permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized analytics data may be retained longer for service improvement purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

SparkWriter is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of SparkWriter after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
